BMW ZX-6 car concept was designed by 3rd year students of Transportation Design School at Turin Based IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in partnership with BMW for final project of Transportation Design (Designing the BMW of 2015). The concept has paid attention to the modern needs, tastes and life style of an individual. All the cars designed in this project looks like toy cars. You can�t even imagine them running on roads in the real life.

The latest offering by Nissan is its school of fish EPORO Robot Concept Car which mimics the behaviour of fish in the water. This concept is designed to travel in group of vehicles, mimicking the behavioural pattern of a school of fish in avoiding collision with each other.

Nissan will demonstrate this breakthrough technology with a group of six EPOROs when they make their world debut at the CEATEC JAPAN 2009, October 6 – 10 at the Makuhari Messe.

In developing EPORO, three rules of fish behavior were applied to its driving control.

Fish behaviour Rules:

Collision Avoidance — look after avoiding collision with other fishes.

Traveling Side-by-Side —travel close to nearest fishes with a minimum distance to avoid contact or collision.

Get closer —move closer with the other fishes to fill in the gaps in between.

Nissan initially revealed its �anti-collision� technology in 2008, with the BR23C robot based on the behavioral characteristics of a bumblebee.

Though the bumblebees, like fish, demonstrate anti-collision abilities such as detecting and avoiding obstacles and collision, bees tend to move alone while fish travel in schools. Nissan studied the behavior of groups of fish, as it better mirrored a traffic environment.

This is the world’s first development of a robot car that can travel in a group by sharing the position and information of others within a group via communication technologies.

The automobile industry has been endlessly finding new concepts to make the cars more sustainable, energy efficient, safer and less polluting. The chess car is a great future car concept, which is going to revolutionize the auto industry.

The chess car is a cell car where the passengers sit in a cell above a platform that contains the wheels and the engine. The concept is that the cell moves around the platform in all directions.

These chess cars are safer on the roads. The sensor placed in the platform detects any possible crash, by which the cell is moved away from the expected area. This makes it safe, as the passengers will be moved to a safer side, far from the impact area. The distance between the passengers and the crash area is more, which makes the chess cars safer on the roads.

Another feature of the cell is that it moves to a safer position on account of the speed, position and place of crash impact, which shows that the survival rate would be higher than in normal cars.

In this chess car concept, during a collision, the cars do not crash in and therefore injuries can be negligible. During a side crash, the doorstep moves out creating a buffer area, which also keeps the passengers away from any hard hit.

The chess car is a unique concept, designed to reduce the impact of accidents. Spawning light on the future cars, these chess cars are still a concept.� Lets Hope to see them on the roads in the future soon….
