An art car is a vehicle that has had its appearance modified as an act of personal artistic expression. Art cars are often driven and owned by their creators, who are sometimes referred to as “Cartists”.

Art car artists or owners often dress in a matching motif when displaying their cars. Art cars and car artists come from all walks of life, uphold a wide range of personal philosophies and beliefs and come from all political groups.

An important aspect of art cars and car artists is the general belief that there are no standards. Ideally, there are no super stars nor is any car better than any other.

Art cars are unique in that no art car is a “bad” or “wrong” art car. There is more of a sense of inclusion than in other car groups which focus on standards, specific historic periods or makes and models of car.

Most car artists are ordinary people with no artistic training.

They are largely self taught and self funded, though some mainstream trained artists have also worked in the art car medium. Some consider their art to be created as a source of income or as “professional” artworks. Most others agree that creating and driving an art car daily is its own reward

Art cars can be driven as daily drivers. Others are hauled around the country on trailers and have never driven anywhere but within art car shows.

Others are found everywhere from the local grocery store, to formal museums to organized shows. Some are predominantly functional whereas others are considered primarily art works. Some car artists would never rent their car out while others build cars to make money.

decorated christmas tree

decorated christmas tree

Christmas season is in the air. Decorations are done all around – home, exteriors, lanes, trees, gifts and much more. Then why not your cars get the festive lights too? Here I would mention some unique thoughts for decorating your car.

Thinking about different ways to decorate your car? You can decorate your car without spending much money. Lets see how;

Twinkling stars: Stars remind everyone about Christmas season. Use your own craft ideas to make small stars. Punch small holes on the star made with craft paper. Try to put up some lighted bulbs. If you already have a small hanging bulb inside your car, tie the small star with a string around the bulb.

Magnetic car decorating letters and magnetic bulbs: Use a magnetic letter kit to wish a “Merry Christmas”. It is not hard to find these magnetic letters during the Christmas season. Decorate the cars with shiny magnetic letters. Also you can consider bulb magnet decorations. Choose colors as green, yellow, white and blue car decorating lights that are reflective. It may look better on the exteriors of your car.

Christmas trees: Look for small Christmas trees decorations for table top that you can discover in the flea markets or dollar tree shops. Buy a red table top tree or an ordinary tinsel tree with ornaments that can be attractive both at day and night. Place them at the back of the car on the deck and secure them with double sided car adhesives. A suction cup can be used to hang small Christmas tree decorations on glass windows.

Christmas lighted garland: A small garland decorates the interior or your car. Use suction hooks to hang the garlands. It can be used to decorate the interior or exterior of your cars. Use small lighted bows to decorate the glass windows if possible. Avoid a red color as red flashing lights may violate the traffic rules in your area.

Bobble Head Santa: A Santa that bobble with the moving car can be the most amusing decoration for your car. If you can find a small one, consider placing it on the back deck of your car. Make sure to use adhesives that are specially recommended for use on cars.

Bumper stickers: Find a flashing bumper sticker with a good message to everyone for this Christmas season. Bumper sticker is an old idea. Turn that idea to convey good messages to people you love. One good message can be Jesus is the reason for this joyful season.” Try to find bumper stickers with Biblical verses if possible. Decorative nativity scenes can also add more meaning to your decorations.

Decorating car for Christmas is now a passion for some. So decorate your car and spread the message of Christmas!
