Mahindra are now developing a new range of engines to power their existing range as well as newer models. According to a report from Auto car India, the range of engines will comprise three petrol mills and three diesel mills in the range of 1.2 to 1.6 litres. Mahindra is thought to be investing over Rs 4300 Crore in the development of the engines.

The Indian SUV major is also thought to be increasing its own five-speed and six-speed transmissions to go with the engines.

These engines are will power and the smaller vehicles are replace the obtainable range of mills, the larger 2.2 and 2.5-litre mHawk mill are expected to continue duty in the Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo and the Bolero. However, the mEagle engine is expected to be phased out once the new engines are launched.
