The New Volkswagen Virtus

Volkswagen will Launch the Virtus on June 9. Pre-bookings for the sedan are already underway. It will likely be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards. The VW Virtus will share its powertrain with the Skoda Slavia: a 1-litre turbo-petrol (115PS/178Nm) and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (150PS/250Nm) unit. While the former is coupled with a standard 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic, the bigger 1.5-litre unit is mated to a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) only. The 1.5-litre unit features Active Cylinder Deactivation technology, which shuts down two cylinders under low-stress conditions for improved fuel economy.
