In 2009 BMW value dropped 9% which is about $21.8 billion and Toyota�s brand value dropped by 27% which is about $21.8 billion. That put Toyota just behind BMW.

Millward Brown global brand director, Walshe said �Toyota’s brand has suffered in the recent months but it is trying hard to overcome the damage”. Our evidence shows that strong brands will definitely recover from a crisis.

According to the survey, the brand value of Ford and Volkswagen has improved. Volkswagen has increased by 20% and Ford has increased 19%. Both these makers are viewed as trustworthy brands than BMW and Mercedes due to their style, distribution and lower prices.

BMW already is preparing for that launch. Its yearlong trial with the Mini E electric car has opened the auto marketer’s eyes to the maze of regulations facing plug-in electric cars.

“We are learning a heck of a lot just about the sheer infrastructure,” says Jim O’Donnell, CEO of BMW of North America. “When we bring out another electric car, we will be in a great position because we know all the wrinkles.”

“If you are in a house with a normal supply and you want to bring a 240-volt [charger], you have to have an agreement from the power utility,” O’Donnell says. “New Jersey is the most difficult because there are so many local authorities.”

New Bmw series5

BMW has launched the new 5 Series premium sedan in Munich just an hour ago. After looking at this new series, I realized that in the context of design, it�s a mixture of latest 3 and 7 Series. With front end more inspired by the 7 series.

The kidney grille looks larger now but luckily not as large as the 7 Series or the 5 Series Gran Turismo. The rear taillights look like a combination of the taillights found on both the 3 and 7 while the side profile still has the classic 5 look.

Not only that, even certain components like the seats have a common structure and what makes them different are the type of leather and stitching..
Aluminium is the main constituent of this new model. Light weight material is used on areas like doors. Other thing which draws attention is an electric power steering and rear active steering. The former is a standard fit and hopefully it does not disrupt the almost perfect steering feel that BMWs are normally associated with.

The system basically turns the wheels the opposite way from the front wheels at low speeds and otherwise at higher speeds. At low speeds, it helps make driving a huge car a much easier affair.
