Volkswagen readying Jetta Alltrack for USA

May 26, 2012 in Auto News, expensive cars, New Cars, volkswagen

Volkswagen targets to spread the Jetta All track around the US. From this Americans would be left to enjoy the larger Jetta Alltrack.

VW Jetta Alltrack

Like the Passat Alltrack shown above, the vehicles would enjoy a taller ride height, black plastic shell on the wheel arches and distinctive front and rear fascias.

VW new Jetta Alltrack

Volkswagen’s next-invention Tiguan will likely be bigger and provide three row sitting seats, leaving a compact crossover-sized canceled in the company’s lineup and an all-wheel drive high-riding Jetta could be just the respond.

There are no strong details on what the driveline could offer, but we would be surprised if something other than the present spate of gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines.

What can you do with that old BMW you have sitting roughly

May 22, 2012 in BMW

Many BMW enthusiasts have that extra BMW sitting roughly their driveway, maybe they park it on the street because it leaks a little bit and the relations does not want to let the neighbors you actually own it. It is kind of embarrassed when you think about it. More than likely though that very car has some kind of connection to the owner and regardless of all the nagging from the wife you will not send this car to the garbage pile. What can you do with it?

Enter Chump Car World Series!

That terrible BMW you have hidden out on the street in front of your house has the possible to be a racecar and it might even be intended to bring you along to a top spot on the dais. The car barely run if you can even get it to start so how is this likely? Everyone else is going to be racing similar cars so you will be in Good Corporation. $500 dollar cars are run in this series of crapcan racing which is nice when you wallet cannot maintain a more serious entry into Club Racing.

Enter a very particular 1986 325e. It was hit in the back and is rusting. The mend was quite low quality and at some point the stem might fall off. The car starts when it needs too which is a crap shoot. Maybe it’s your lucky day and it will flame right up. The shifter is lessening out of the auto and drags on the driveshaft. It’s filled with garbage. This is perfect! The car is owned by a friend named John Allen and the car has forever been called “The Special”. More on that later. Being an E30 nerd myself most of my friends just appear to all be E30 guys.

It’s a curse and we love it. A late night of wrenching on one of our own E30s that was broken down we decided we should enter ChumpCar and run the particular. Say it ain’t so we are going racing!

Enter the John Allen particular USFail1 race team. A bunch of BMW nerds that love wrenching and want to go racing. This is where we have to make an apology for the misleading title. While method 1 is coming to the US in Texas there is not a new Formula 1 team and BMW is not recurring that we know of. What we do have is a 1986 325e 5 velocity and it will be racing in ChumpCar. BMWBLOG will be following along with the build and consequences as we make this into a true racing machine.

Enjoy the photos of what we are starting with and satisfy check back as we will have updates to get everybody caught up with where we are at!

Pagani Huayra’s Request Denied By NHTSA, But Still Huayra Will Build It To The US in 2013

May 18, 2012 in Detroit-motor-show, Motor sports

As we previously reported, in 2000, NHTSA published a final rule that upgraded the necessities for air bags in passenger cars and light trucks, requiring what are commonly known as “advanced air bags” and all automakers had to obey with the regulations, but a few low-volume manufacturers like Tesla and Lamborghini were given exemptions. As expected, Pagani practical for a similar pass and because the company didn’t have the financial resources to develop such a system, the management has denied its request. So, as a result, the company will have to go back to the drawing board and develop the required advanced airbag system as necessary by the NHTSA to sell their car in the United States, but this would cost them around $5.7 million. They can also skip out on this souk as they did with the previous Zonda, and probably this will happen.

Update: Well, here comes the attractive part, because, according to GTspirit, Pagani decided start of US deliveries in first part of 2013.

“The US market is significant to Pagani and the potential of our company. The Huayra project had a US market foreword as a key goal from the start. The reception we are currently experiencing in the US fully supports our vision and will fuel our willpower to successfully deliver the Huayra to our clientele in the United States,” Pagani said.

So, Pagani confirms reports that a requested exception for the advanced airbag rule has been denied by NHTSA but denies this will enduringly disrupt a market foreword of the Pagani Huayra in the United States and, with preparations for the completion of an advanced airbag system done, and testing well under way a winning market introduction of the Pagani Huayra in the United States with a delay of six to nine months is still possible. This way we’ll see Pagani Huayra on the US roads as soon as the start of 2013.

Jaguar Confirms Latest Supercharged Six for F-type and Introduces a Turbo Four [Beijing Auto Show]

May 16, 2012 in Auto News, Cute Cars, Strange Cars

Two new engines with enforced induction will join Jaguar’s roster in the company’s push to grow sales in the U.S., Europe, and China.

A supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 has been derived from Jaguar’s dazzling 5.0-liter V-8, and will make 340 hp in most applications. The future F-type sports car will debut the engine, and will wholly offer a special 380-hp version. We’re guessing the high-po V-6 is being kept out of the sedans for now because it would overlie with the naturally aspirated V-8, which is rated at 385 hp. Since the F-type is almost certainly not being engineered to take a larger eight-cylinder engine, there’s no risk of duplication. Jaguar isn’t chatting about torque for either version of the supercharged six yet, but a variant of this engine previewed in the C-X16 impression car the forbearer of the manufacture F-type delivered 332 lb-ft.

On the smaller side, Jaguar is established a 240-hp turbocharged four. In all probability, this is the same 2.0-liter train used in the Range Rover Evoque itself borrowed from Ford although the Jaguar version is rotated for longitudinal fitting. Jaguar’s turbo four has the same dislocation down to the cubic centimeter, bore, and stroke as the Evoque’s four, as well as Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine in the Escape, Explorer, Edge, and more. Based on that, we’re pegging the still-not-announced torque rating for Jaguar’s version of this engine at a strong 250 lb-ft.

Both engines will use eight-speed diffusion, sourced from ZF and also used by BMW, Audi, Chrysler, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley. It’s likely that the F-type will also offer a physical gearbox with its V-6, but it hasn’t been established yet. You’ll probably be forced to choose the routine if you want the elective engine stop-start system, though.
